Do you have a disability? Are you having trouble getting to and from work or work-related destinations?
WRTD, in partnership with the CT Association of Centers for Independent Living, can help with the Connect-Ability program. WRTD offers work-related transportation for persons with disabilities.
These rides are an expansion of the current services that WRTD provides: Dial-A-Ride and ADA Paratransit, Willimantic City Bus, Storrs-Willimantic Bus, Route 32 Commuter Bus, Willimantic-Danielson Flex Route, and Route 195 Express.
To surmount transportation barriers to employment, and provide innovative employment solutions to the disability community in the ten (10) Towns of the Windham Region (Ashford, Chaplin, Columbia, Coventry, Hampton, Lebanon, Mansfield, Scotland, Willington, Windham).
For more information, please call 456-1462.
WRTD offers Dial-A-Ride and ADA paratransit demand-response services in addition to our fixed route services (the Willimantic City Bus and the Storrs-Willimantic Bus) and our Route 32 Commuter Bus Service. All WRTD services are open to the public.
To schedule a ride, call the Dial-A-Ride dispatcher at 456-1462 by 4:00 p.m. a minimum of two business days before you'd like a ride. Persons 60 years of age and older and persons with disabilities have priority scheduling. General Public rides are scheduled on an as-available basis. Call Dial-A-Ride at 456-1462 for additional information or to schedule a ride.
Operation of Dial-A-Ride requires the grouping of rides, whenever possible, according to destination. Dial-A-Ride is not a taxi service.
If you find that you do not need a ride you have scheduled, call the dispatcher immediately and cancel the ride.
Passengers who are certified ADA eligible and who are traveling within a 3/4 mile radius of a WRTD fixed-route bus (the Willimantic City Bus or Storrs-Willimantic Bus), may use Dial-A-Ride as paratransit during the days and hours of fixed-route operation. Call WRTD at 456-2223 for more information about ADA eligibility.
Dial-A-Ride gratefully accepts donations from its users or any other interested parties. Local contributions are matched with State and Federal funds. Please send to: Dial-A-Ride Office, 968 Main Street, Willimantic, CT 06226.
